Hrithik Roshan’s long-awaited action film “War 2” had a rough ride on its fourth-day at the theater. The film earned 31 crore on the day of its release, 17 August 2025 making it the lowest single-day income since its release.
Sunday Slowdown Surprises Everyone
The drop on Sunday came as an unexpected shock to a lot of trade experts. Typically, Sundays are the ones that bring the most money during the film’s opening weekend. The film War 2 saw a huge 40% drop from its first day total at Rs52.5 crore.
The performance was not as good when as compared to the initial “War” (2019), which raked in Rs37.5 million on the debut Sunday. The sequel, which stars Hrithik Roshan Jr NTR and Kiara Advani, appears not to have the capacity to maintain its predecessor’s speed.
Total Collection Crosses Rs170 Crore Mark
Despite the drop on Sunday, War 2 has managed to surpass important milestones. After four days of its theatrical release the film has grossed around $173-$175 millions across India in all the languages.

- Morning reports: 16.24%
- The afternoon show: 39.46%
- The evening shows 47.53%
Tamil Version: 46.21% overall occupancy
Telugu Version 32.45 Percent overall
Coolie’s Battle Heats Up
War 2 is facing tough opposition by Rajinikanth’s “Coolie,” which released on the same day. However, Coolie began with a better opening day total of 65 crore and War 2 is competing head-to-head in the box-office race.
The Ayan Mukerji-directed movie, made through Yash Raj Films, is part of the well-known YRF Spy Universe. With a budget of about Rs400 crore, the film still has a lengthy way to go before it breaks even.
Experts in the industry will be monitoring the numbers on Monday to determine whether War 2 can bounce back from the sudden slowdown of Sunday.
